My Birthday

My Birthday was last month- April 16th to be exact.  This year, after much thought, I decided the one thing I wanted was a clock made out of the plates that my Dad bought while serving in the Philippines.  I'm so thankful to be married to a man who is so crafty.  He did this perfectly.

Horsin' Around

April 18th, Mia was invited to a pony party for her friend, Ella.  She had so much fun!
Pinata's are always fun!

Mia loved riding the horse.  His name was Sonny.

Easter

I love Easter.  I love celebrating Jesus' resurrection.  We went to church Easter Sunday then had brunch with my sister in law and brother in law.  It was nice.

Mia and I wore matching dresses (Gymboree).  I love that she still wants to dress like me.

Mia loves her cousin Emma.

Dying Eggs

Right before Easter, we finally had a chance to dye eggs. We had a great time decorating them with stickers and tattoos.

Cherry Blossoms

Seeing the Cherry Blossoms in full bloom is one of the perks of working in DC.  They are beautiful.  While the tourists make my commute longer-- it's definitely enjoyable.

1st Soccer game of the season

March 28th was the kid's 1st soccer game of the season.  Mia's team is called the Tigers.  Paxton's team is the Coconuts.  Not sure where the kids came up with those names.

Needless to say, we were freezing that day.

I'm so glad it's spring now!

Colon Cancer Awareness- a month late

Wow, I'm really behind on blogging.  March was Colon Cancer Awareness Month.  Last May, I lost my Dad to Colon Cancer so this is a cause near and dear to my heart now.
We wore our blue on March 6th

Mia is holding the stuffed puppy she had bought for her Grandpa a few years ago.  She decided to take care of it after he passed away

On March 28th, we did a 5k for Colon Cancer

This was my 1st 5k.  It was a great family event.

The Beginner's Bible Come Celebrate Easter

So, Easter passed a few weeks ago and clearly I'm behind.  I ordered this book a while ago and I have to say, I was very happy with it.  The text is easy to read and the activities are fun and age appropriate.  Each page contains several activities and talk about the true meaning of Easter.  Overall, I really liked this book.

Weekend Recap (a week behind)

A weekend behind, as usual....Last Sunday Mia and Pax had a playdate with their friend Leo at a local bounce house.  It was so fun!

When we got home, Mia saw a mud puddle and had to play in it....

Hope you had a great weekend

Date at the range...

One thing you probably didn't know about me is that I really like shooting.  It is a great stress reliever.  It was especially fun to shoot with my husband.  In our over 8 years of marriage, this was the first time we had gone together.  It's definitely something we'll do again.

Not bad considering I hadn't been in well over 10 years....

Family Heirooms and Photo Gallery Wall

I inherited a lot of my Dad's old things (baseball mitt, box of goodies from his Dad, pictures, etc.).  I wanted a proper place to display them so this is what I came up with.  I'm pretty happy with the results.  Thanks to my patient husband, Chris for moving things around several times for me while I changed my mind....
I stained these crates (purchased at JoAnn Fabrics) and Chris hung them on the wall.  The contents are mostly things from my Dad (including his picture).  The vases were my Grandmothers.  The canvas tree was a adoption fundraiser.

I do not have pictures in all of the frames yet, but I'm super happy with the result.  The saw was my Grandfathers.  He used it a lot and there are little carvings on the side that you can't see.   I bought all of the frames at Michaels.

I never knew this box existed.  It was my Grandfathers and apparently, he collected all of the little memorabilia inside.  It's really cool, but putting it all together and tying the objects inside was a huge pain.

I'm really happy with the finished project, but have a few more pieces that I need to add.

Wordless Wednesday

Power Puff Derby

Mia is a Daisy (Girl Scout).  This year, she competed in her first Power Puff Derby (similar to the Pinewood Derby).  It was so fun and a great opportunity for her to do a project with Chris.  She won 3rd place in the race and got an award for the most colorful car.

She was so proud of her trophy!
